Longina is a serie in progress
The series Longina is a tribute to the Cuban song that bears its name. More accurately, it is a celebration of Cuban music in the 1920’s, its roots and the themes it explores—female beauty, love, heartbreak and the state of society of the day, all delivered via unforgettable voices such as those of the Trova Tradicional.
While Manuel Corona, the composer of the lyrics, would visit the venues made famous by the most illustrious troubadours of his time. As the story goes, while performing at one such emblematic place for Cuban music: Las Maravillas, the beauty of Longina O’Farril took Corona, among others. It was her stunning impression that inspired one of the most iconic Cuban troubadour’s songs in history, composed in just a few days’ time after their first meeting.
